2 Months Old

2 months, 61 days, just shy of 9 weeks - any way you say it, it has been a long time. Today marks Kaitlyn and Hunter turning 2 months old. And, I am happy to say, there seems to be an end in sight.

As of today, both babies are taking bottles at every feeding. The feeding tubes have come out. They will now be monitored to make sure they are not doing anything silly like losing weight, or somehow else not tolerating bottles all the time. As of last night, Kaitlyn weighed 5 lb. 10.4 oz. and Hunter weighed 6 lb. 14.8 oz.

They are going to put in the request to get an MRI done of Kaitlyn's head. This will give us a better idea of what/if there is any permanent damage to Kaitlyn's brain because of the bleed and fluid build-up. Of course, it can't tell us anything with 100% accuracy. We will have to wait for time to tell us for sure.

They will also schedule Hunter's circumcision for sometime in the next few days. So, that will be completed before we take him home.

Probably, Monday, both kids will receive another eye exam. They will be looking to make sure that Hunter's eyes are still developing normally. They will also be looking to see if the retinopathy in Kaitlyn's eyes is getting better, worse, or staying the same.

We also took the car seats into the hospital today. Sometime in the next few days they will perform the car seat test. They will put Kaitlyn and Hunter in their car seats for a period of time and watch them to make sure they don't have any issues with their heart rates or breathing.

Once, all these tests and procedures have been completed and the babies are tolerating feeding from a bottle at every feeding we will be able to bring them home. Hopefully, by the end of next week we will be posting homecoming pictures. Stay tuned...
